Head of the Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies
Asst. Prof. Gökhan TIMAÇ
Born in İzmit in 1979, Gökhan TIMAÇ graduated top of his class from the Department of Metal Teacher Education at Marmara University's Faculty of Technical Education in 2004. After graduating from university, he began working as a maintenance supervisor in the Production Engineering Department of the Arçelik A.Ş. Washing Machine Factory in 2004. He also participated in TPM-Lean training and projects within Arçelik as part of its Lean/TPM (Total Productive Maintenance/Management) activities. During this period, he was involved in production maintenance activities and plastic molds/processes. TPM-LEAN activities included TPM-LEAN training, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, lubrication, problem-solving techniques, Poke Yoke, 5S, Kaizen, 14001 environment, machine mechanical maintenance, technical drawing, measurement and control, and more. He provided in-plant training.
While working at Arçelik, he began his master's degree in the Department of Metal Education at Marmara University's Institute of Science in 2004 and completed his master's degree in 2006 with his master's thesis, "Investigation of the Weldability of Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys Used in the Aviation Industry Using TIG Welding." After completing his master's degree, he completed his short-term military service in 2007. Following his military service, he served as R&D Design Manager and in TPM-LEAN activities in the R&D department at the Arçelik Washing Machine factory. During this period, he worked on a wide range of engineering activities, including designs, tests, projects, patents, and more. While working at Arçelik, he began his doctoral program in the Department of Metal Education at Marmara University's Institute of Science and Technology and completed his doctorate in 2016 with his thesis, "Production of Nickel-Based Superalloy Foam Materials Using the Cavity Formation Technique and Investigation of Their Microstructural and Mechanical Properties." During this period, he received one international patent and participated in one EU project.
He completed the International Welding Engineering (IWE) program in 2011. He also received his Occupational Safety Specialist/Class-C certificate in 2014. In addition, he also taught courses and seminars on Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Welding, TPM-Lean, Train-the-Trainer, Social Styles, Problem-Solving Techniques, FMEA, and 6Sigma, among other social responsibility initiatives, at the Ahmet Elginkan Vocational and Technical Training Center between 2007 and 2017.
In 2012, he left his position at Arçelik and worked as Project Technical Manager in the R&D and Engineering department of the NOVA Group, covering R&D, design, engineering, and manufacturing. During this period, he served as the Engineering Technical Manager on numerous national and international projects, including SHELL, Swatch, PO-OMV, Polimeks, KIA, OPEL, and Mercedes.
In 2015, he left the NOVA Group and began working as a Welding Manufacturing Manager at TIRSAN A.Ş. In this role, he worked on numerous tanker projects, primarily involving stainless and aluminum materials for pressure vessels and hazardous material transportation. In 2017, he was promoted within TIRSAN A.Ş. and continued his work as Quality Assurance and LEAN Production Manager. While in this role, he was involved in numerous projects, including total quality system implementation, training, lean operations, patents, projects, and other initiatives, particularly those aligned with international standards. He worked on ISO 9001, 14001, 10002, and OHSAS 18001 management systems, as well as PDI, PQ, IQC, SQA, and Lean systems, including 5S, Kaizen, VSM, Jishuken, Method, A3, TRIZ, and FMEA. During this period, he received seven patents and participated in three TUBITAK projects.
In 2019, he left his position at TIRSAN A.Ş. and continues to serve as administrative officer of the Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies at Yalova University Altınova Vocational School. While in this position, he received certifications in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) NDT Level II - UT, PT, RT, VT - Level III - MT EN ISO 9712, successfully completed a MARKA project as the responsible manager, and received three patents. He has been teaching courses available to the faculty since the fall and summer semesters of 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022. He is married and has two children.

Deputy Director of Altınova Vocational School
Lecturer Murat ŞAHİN
Born in Trabzon in 1980, he completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Trabzon. He graduated from the Metalwork Teacher Education Department of Marmara University's Faculty of Technical Education in 2003. After graduation, he worked as a Manufacturing Manager at RAMSAN PLS. MOLD SAN. VE TİC. LTD. ŞTİ., a company primarily engaged in plastic injection molding and mold manufacturing.
In 2005, he worked as a designer in the Product Development and Quality Control Departments of Arçelik A.Ş.'s Washing Machine Plant. In 2008, he left Arçelik A.Ş. due to his military service and completed his military service for a short period.
He completed his Master's Degree in Metalwork Education at Marmara University's Institute of Science between 2004 and 2007.
In mid-2008, he returned to Trabzon and began working at Hekimoğlu Döküm A.Ş., a company with steel, ductile iron, and bimetal casting, processing, and painting facilities. He served there until 2018 as a manager and supervisor in the Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Occupational Safety departments.
In 2018, he worked as an occupational safety specialist at the Mevlana Joint Health and Safety Unit, primarily in the HEPP, Construction, Manufacturing, Sewerage, and Highway sectors in the Trabzon, Rize, Gümüşhane, and Giresun regions.
He holds numerous training and certifications in ISO TS 16949, 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 management systems, as well as Quality and Occupational Safety. He also holds various training and certifications in Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC), which are particularly used in the automotive sector. He also holds Class A occupational safety specialist and hazardous material safety consultancy certifications.
In 2019, he began his academic career as a lecturer in the Welding Technology Program of the Machinery and Metal Technologies Department of Altınova Vocational School at Yalova University. He served as Department Head of the Machinery and Metal Technologies Department between 2019 and 2022. As of October 2022, he currently serves as the Deputy Director of Altınova Vocational School. He served as the project manager for a development agency (MARKA) Vocational Education Application and Research Center project. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in the thesis phase of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department of the Institute of Science at Marmara University. He speaks fluent English. He is married with three children.

Lecturer Ezgi AKSU KILIÇGEDİK
Born in Istanbul in 1998, she completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Istanbul. She graduated from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at
Kocaeli University's Faculty of Engineering in 2020. Between 2020 and 2021, she contributed to various laboratory studies at Eskişehir Technical University and Yıldız Technical University.
In 2021, she began her master's degree at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Yıldız Technical University's Institute of Science. During the same period, she worked as a fellow for 18 months on the project titled "Development of Blood Pressure Measurement Systems Using Flexible Patches" conducted by the TÜBİTAK MAM. She completed her thesis, supported by this project, in 2024 and received her master's degree. Later that year, she began her doctoral studies at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Yıldız Technical University's Institute of Science.
In 2024, he began his academic career as a research assistant in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University's Faculty of Engineering. During this time, he continued his doctoral studies through a horizontal transfer to the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Karaniz Technical University Institute of Science.
Following a tenure of approximately one year in Trabzon, he began working as a lecturer in the Welding Technology Program at the Altınova Vocational School of Yalova University in 2025. He is currently continuing his doctoral studies in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Yıldız Technical University Institute of Science.

Head of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies
Asst. Prof. Eren UYAN
Dr. Eren Uyan graduated from Cumhuriyet University's Department of Mechanical Engineering as top student in 2008. He completed his master's degree in Naval Architecture at Newcastle University in 2010 under the supervision of Professor George Bruce. He received his doctorate in 2019, also at Newcastle University, with his thesis titled "A Holistic Framework for Improved Energy Performance in Marine Manufacturing Plants," under the supervision of Professors Mehmet Atlar and Aykut Ölçer.
In his academic and research career, he focuses on energy efficiency and management in shipyards and factories, clean energy use, and sustainable production. He contributes to increasing energy efficiency and ensuring environmental sustainability in the maritime and manufacturing sectors. He also provides consulting services in the private sector on sustainability, energy efficiency, and production development.
He currently serves as Head of the Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies Department at our Vocational School and teaches in the Naval Architecture program. He speaks advanced English.
