It was built on July 30, 1985 at the Taşkızak Shipyard in Istanbul under the name of Gümrük Koruma 403. The motor boat named "Gümrük Koruma-403" belonging to the Gemlik Customs Enforcement Directorate of the Bursa Customs and Enforcement Chief Directorate of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Customs and Trade remained in service until 2012. In 2012, the Gemlik Customs Enforcement Directorate gave a grant to Yalova University. The motor boat named "403" granted to Yalova University was named YALOVA UNIVERSITY-1 and became the training and research ship of Yalova University. The boat, named YALOVA UNIVERSITY-1, with a weight of 30 gross tons, a speed of 10 knots (nautical miles), and 14 meters in length, started to be used in the education, training, and research activities of students in 2012. From now on, our students can apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired at Yalova University by working on the ship and conducting training and research. Our professors are conducting ghost net studies in the Marmara Sea, primarily around Yalova, to protect marine life and monitor biodiversity in our deep blue seas. Maintenance and repair work is being carried out on the
Yalova University-1 training ship as part of sustainability efforts. The Yalova University-1 training ship is intended to be used effectively in educational activities at Altınova Vocational School.
